Viscosity

Viscosity indicates how "thick" or "thin" a liquid is.

Absolute (dynamic) viscosity

Generally used when specifying a fluid.

Anti-thixotropic viscosity

Viscosity has the opposite behaviour of thixotropic.

Dilatant viscosity

Viscosity increases with increasing shear rate.

Kinematic viscosity

Generally used when selecting flow equipment.

Newtonian viscosity

Viscosity constant regardless of shear rate.

Plastic viscosity

Needs some stress to overcome solid-like structure.

Pseudoplastic viscosity

Viscosity decreases with increasing shear rate.

Rheomalactic viscosity

Viscosity decreases over time and does not recover.

Thixotropic viscosity

Viscosity decreases over time during shear. It returns to the original value after shear stops.
