Founded in 1989, em-tec GmbH has been developing and manufacturing innovative and economical products and customised solutions for medical and non-medical applications for over 30 years at its factory in Finning, Germany.

So far, the main focus has been on life-saving devices, especially in cardiac surgery or cardiac support systems. One of the core competences is non-invasive flow measurement using the ultrasound transit method.

The core business is sensor systems for non-invasive flow measurement for laboratory-scale bioprocess engineering with strict hygienic requirements and for GMP-orientated and industrial bioprocess technology.

The product programme includes different types of flow measurement systems for the medical, pharmaceutical and bioprocess industries, including solutions for non-invasive flow measurement on flexible hose systems in single-use applications and on extracorporeal pipe circuits in medical technology.

Based on the ultrasonic transit method for non-invasive flow measurement, the sensor ensures reliable monitoring of volume flow rate in both lab-scale and industrial applications.

The transducer snaps on for quick and easy connection to flexible pipes without opening the system. This avoids both contamination and pressure drop.

The non-invasive, functional design with no moving parts prevents additional shear stress in relation to the medium, which is a significant advantage compared to invasive methods when it comes to handling shear-sensitive organisms or biomolecules.

The ultrasonic transit method used, combined with a customised calibration with regard to the respective process parameters, allows for a highly accurate measurement in addition to flexible application possibilities.
